UGC Formed Grievance Cell to Redress Students Concerns Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Recently, University Grant Commission (UGC) had issued guidelines on examinations and academic calendar in view of corona virus outbreak. In accordance to the guidelines, all universities have been advised to adopt easier methods to conduct exams, and to plan their academic activities by giving highest priority to the health of all concerned while adopting and implementing the new guidelines.

But these guidelines alone did not solve the students’ doubts on the exams and other college schedules. So UGC has requested all the universities to form a grievance cell of their own, for the students to raise their queries related to examinations and other academic activities arising due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Minister of HRD, has also tweeted the same on his twitter account for the welfare of the students.

Platforms to Raise Students Concerns

The UGC monitor the queries of the students, teachers and institutions through the below mentioned platforms:
  • Students can call the dedicated helpline number (011-23236374) that has been set up by the UGC.
  • Students can also raise their concerns through mail via ugc@gmail.com.
  • Students can use the Online Students Grievance Redressal Portal of UGC to lodge their complaints via https://ugc.ac.in/grievance/student_reg.aspx.
  • To post their complaint on the portal, the students have to register themselves in the portal using their email address and password.
  • A Task Force has also been formed by the UGC to monitor the queries and redress the same.
